The bass and the amp belong to me. the Foucault belongs to Sophie. Trying to zip through the last 15 pages before she moves out of town. (alas, it's too slow of a read and I didn't make it)

Nicole and Sophie wrap Sophie's TV with bubble wrap. Sophie's moving day and she wasn't fully packed!!
|
19 July 2004
Sophie and Nicole continue to wrap the TV. I showed up around 11:00 am and left around 5:00. Other folks worked from 5:00 = 11:00 pm. Sophie kept saying, "I have the friends ever!" but she still owes me dinner and a lot of beer.

19 July 2004
Sophie and Nicole continuing to wrap the TV. I got to keep the leather jacket in the background (it has an eagle on the back), but it's too big for me. somebody want to trade me that medium for a small??

19 July 2004
Nicole standing in Sophie's apartment with lashing straps. ooh-la-la! Turns out they're for tying down freight.
|
19 July 2004
Then I made a joke about lashing straps.

Sophie looks on while Danica pontificates instead of helping carry or pack. We learn, though, what a feminist looks like.

19 July 2004
Get back to work!
I swear, all the time I wasn't snapping photos I was carrying boxes of books. Big boxes. And whining that I was hungry and my back hurt, you know, to show character.
|
19 July 2004
Apparently I've done something to get the attention of Sophie and Danica

Danica points, while not carrying things.

I went back to Sophie's old place to retrieve Cola's bicycle and who should be lingering around still, but Sophie herself!

20 July 2004
I convinced Sophie to walk with me to the Lake Merrit Bakery and Restaurant, perhaps the worst diner in the East Bay
|
20 July 2004
Sophie called to say she's be late to where she was headed.
|
20 July 2004
The Lake Merrit Bakery was festooned with flags, some of which had little stickers with the emblem of the restaurant stuck next to the stars. The flags make it look red state, but it unequivocably, undoubtedly blue state.

My bass teacher told me to practice bowing in front of a mirror so that my bow would be straight. So here I am in my downstairs bathroom

My bass teacher told me to practice bowing in front of a mirror so that my bow would be straight. So here I am in my downstairs bathroom. My goodness, my long tones sound better this way.
|
21 July 2004
What looks straight from my position is not what looks straight in the mirror. Ah perspectives are weird. Note how the string and the bow do not appear to be making a right angle. And yet in the mirror and in real life, they are.
|
21 July 2004
See that string hanging loose? the cats broke it and three like it.
|
21 July 2004
The cats knocked this box down and broke 4 of World Famous Composer, Ellen Fullman's long strings. The tuning C clamps lie uselessly on the ground. Bad kitty!
