This picture shows a black railway employee posing with somebody in blackface. They were smiling and chatting before I took it.

Some folks dressed as Piet were dancing with each other and with children. Not all of the children or adult audience were white.

Two people were not in blackface. One was this guy in green. And another guy painted his face pink. The pink person seemed to be the leader.

Zwarte Piet is extremely popular in the Netherlands. There were in a religious store in Amsterdam. Rosaries are only €5.90!

This is a drugstore in Amsterdam (not a pharmacy) which has a head above it. the head is caricature of someone from the Middle East. I noticed several such heads. I don't know if the neighborhood I was in had a higher concentration than other areas or not.

Zwarte Piet is extremely popular in the Netherlands. This one was in Amsterdam. There are fewer there than in The Hague.

Zwarte Piet is extremely popular in the Netherlands. It's not uncommon to see them hanging upside down like the one on the right. Zwarte Piet is a child figure and often depicted as being playful.

An art deco building, formerly holding a store called "Old England" now houses the musical instrument museum in Brussels, Belgium.
The museum is great and there's a restaurant with a terrace on the top floor which is also worth a visit.

The green thing in the middle is a wooden shoe with strings on it. It's traditionally played for a holiday, but I can't tell you which one.
